Amplifying women's voices in art

Problem

While female artists are gaining more recognition, they still don't get the same visibility, acclaim, and pay as male artists. This magazine concept aims to provide a platform for women in art to share their challenges and successes and to highlight their contributions to the global art community. Creating a magazine focused on female art requires navigating a multitude of considerations, from avoiding stereotypes to showcasing each artist's unique voice.

Solution

The name ‘Artelle’ is a made-up word consisting of two parts: ‘art’ and ‘elle’, which means ‘she’ in French. I aimed for a fresh and contemporary visual language that is flexible enough to accommodate different art styles while staying consistent throughout the magazine. A central section is dedicated to in-depth interviews and profiles of diverse women artists. The layout seamlessly integrates text and visuals, allowing readers to immerse themselves in each artist’s unique style.
